Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures
Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures is a video game rated E 10+ for everyone 10 or older. It is a great game where you play a character from the movie. The character is made of Lego and much of the game is built around Lego building blocks and principles. The combination of the adventurous story from Indiana Jones and Lego makes for a great game.
Storyline
The story for the game moves through all three movie titles including Raiders of the Lost Ark, Temple of Doom, and the Last Crusade. For each movie, the player has 6 chapters or levels that they play through for a total of 18 chapters. The storyline stays fairly close to the movies with some minor changes for the video game to make it more appropriate. You will travel through the Jungles of South America, adventure in Egypt, and go to the top of the mountains in India. Just like in the movies you Indiana Jones will need his whip to get through many obstacles. You will also experience many of the same adventures like Indiana's run from a giant boulder and a speedy race on mining cars.
Game play
You will need to move through each chapter battling bad guys, solving puzzles, and finding artifacts. You can unlock more characters and items to use as you play through the game. In some cases you will need to go back and replay a level with a different character to enjoy all the secret features. This really enhances the replay enjoyment of the game. Different characters can use their own unique items. Some characters even have phobias (Indiana Jones is scared of snakes and can't move when he sees them).
There are 83 different characters available in the game. Some you can play right from the start, others you will need to unlock. You can also combine or customize characters, which is very fun. Get creative! There are also vehicles that you can build and then ride as well as mounts like horses and llamas.
Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures is available for a number of game consoles including Nintendo DS, Nintendo Wii, Windows for the PC, Playstation, and Xbox 360.
Overall Review
We like this video game for older students. It has some thrilling adventure elements, a classic storyline, and well designed graphics. The Lego element adds a lot to the game play. We think it makes for a great video game combination.
