Attention all Muggles, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter opens this Spring at Universal Studios Orlando
Universal Studios Islands of Adventure Theme Park in Orlando Florida is opening the highly anticipated Wizarding World of Harry Potter in the Spring of 2010. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will allow fans, young and old, of the books and movies to visit the much loved locations from J.K. Rowling's masterpiece. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is divided up into four main areas. They are: Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Hogsmeade, The Flight of the Hippogriff, and the Dragon's Challenge.
Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
In Hogwarts, you enter through the gates and are able to visit Dumbeldore's Office, The Defense against the Dark Arts Classroom, the Gryffindor Common Room, the Room of Requirements and more. An attraction is also located in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry called Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. Using state of the art technology, this ride brings you up close to magical creatures. Filch's Emporium of Confiscated Goods is a store found at the end of Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey ride. Hogsmeade
In Hogsmeade, you will find most of the shopping and dining options of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. There are five stores with unique offerings at each one. Dervish and Banges will be your destination for all things Quiddich, school uniforms, and magical tools such as omnoculars. You can even pick up your own Nimbus Two Thousand. Honeyduke's is the candy shop where true fans can buy Acid Pops, exploding bonbons, Cauldron Cakes, treacle fudge, and even chocolate frogs. The main attraction of Honeyduke's is bound to be Bertie Bott's Every-Flavour Beans. These beans come in the tasty and not so tasty varieties fans will love to try. Ollivander's Makers of Fine Wands since 382 BC, is the next must see shop. Just as in the beloved books and movie, a storekeeper will help a wand choose you. Replica wands and wand sets from the movie are also available. The Owl Post is a fully functioning post office in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. The numerous benches in the Owl Post allow you to sit back and look up at the rafters full of owls waiting to deliver your mail to your friends back home with an authentic Hogsmeade postmark. Stationery sets and owl souvenirs are available for purchase. Zonko's Toy Store rounds out the shopping at Hogsmeade. Zonko's T-shirts, mugs and other souvenirs are available as well as other novelty items, jokes and toys. This is your shopping destination for extendable cars, screaming yo-yo's, sneakascopes, shrunken heads and more. When you are ready to eat, Hogsmeade offers The Three Broomsticks a rustic tavern where you can refuel on Butterbeer or pumpkin juice. The Three Broomsticks offers a children's menu as well.
The Flight of the Hippogriff
The Flight of the Hippogriff is a family friendly coaster where the cars have woven wicker covered with fluttering feathers. As you enter the Flight of the Hippogriff area of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, you pass by Hagrid's hut and receive instruction on how to approach a hippogriff, which has the head of an eagle and the body of a horse. This coaster will swoop you through a pumpkin patch and past Hagrid's hut.
The Dragon's Challenge
The Dragon's Challenge is actually two high speed rollercoaster's that are intertwined as they chase each other across the sky. Each rollercoaster offer's a completely different ride. Choose from the Chinese Fireball or the Hungarian Horntail and hold on for a wonderful ride. Then go back and ride the other one. This thrill ride is sure to be a popular part of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
